- ➤ Academy Sports + Outdoors confirmed on Monday that it will move from its Eisenhower Parkway location to 195 Tom Hill Sr. Boulevard in North Macon, where construction crews have begun a $3.2 million remodel (following previous incidents). 13WMAZ
- ➤ Local BBQ eatery Satterfield's, run by owners Marla and Ben, has thrived since reopening in early 2020 with the community's support. - ➤ Central Georgia Technical College was awarded a $3.9M federal grant to launch its STEP AI program, which will integrate AI tools and machine learning into technician education and offer 24/7 academic support to undergraduates and dual-enrolled high school students in Macon. WGXA
- ➤ Ms. Sharon Little, teacher at Wilkinson Middle School, was honored this week with the My Teacher is Tops award after a seventh grader nominated her for her dedication and positive influence — she brings 13 years in education, including five at Wilkinson, after a 10-year career in social work. 13WMAZ
- ➤ Bibb County Schools will present a formal budget amendment during Thursday meetings to address a $5.5M discrepancy caused by miscalculated personnel costs (salaries, benefits and travel pay) and omissions. The reported gap will be offset by new tax revenue and savings, and spending and hiring have been paused. 41 WMGT

- ➤ Tucker Road will close for up to 90 days between Foster Road and Peake Road starting Monday, Jan. 19 as GDOT begins replacing two obsolete bridges near I-475 (weather permitting) and drivers are advised to follow detour signage. 41 WMGT

- ➤ A Macon family said Cherry Blossom Memorial Gardens mistakenly used both burial plots they purchased, leaving them without space for future family burials — the error occurred twice. 13WMAZ
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Southwest Patriots posted a 78-61 win over ACE Tuesday night at Duck's Court in their first true home game since Dec. 19. Chase Dupree led with 27 points while Alex Butts added 20 as the team built a 30-point lead and now prepares for Friday's region game. The Macon Melody
