- ➤ Georgia Military College in Milledgeville will host the 30th Will Robinson Memorial Race tomorrow to honor a fallen deputy, featuring a one-mile fun run at 10 a.m. and a 5K at 10:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Robinson scholarship & CHAMPS program. 13WMAZ
- ➤ Middle Georgia is holding MLK Day events to honor Dr. King's legacy — volunteer bed builds, community breakfast, interactive workshops and cleanups are scheduled today through Monday, Jan. 19 in Macon, Milledgeville, Dublin and Swainsboro. WGXA
- ➤ The Historic Macon Foundation named Emily Hopkins as its new executive director, effective Feb. 2. Hopkins (formerly Macon's Main Street manager) will lead efforts to preserve historic sites and revitalize neighborhoods following Nathan Lott's resignation. WGXA

- ➤ A family of four lost all their belongings in an early morning house fire on Monday in Houston County, and local residents are organizing support to help them rebuild. 13WMAZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Bibb County School Board on Thursday voted 4 — 3 to approve over $7.5 million in a budget amendment to fix a $5.5 million discrepancy caused by unbudgeted staff duties and attrition at Bibb County Schools. Chief Financial Officer Eric Bush detailed the adjustments and tighter future oversight during the meeting. 13WMAZ

- ➤ Sixteen local organizations received a share of $400K at City Hall this morning from the Macon Violence Prevention Program to support efforts to reduce violence. The awards recognize community initiatives that aim to make Macon safer. WPGA News
