  • This February, 13WMAZ will feature local Black visionaries from Central Georgia, highlighting contributions from figures such as Dr. Carter Woodson (whose early work sparked national Black History observances) while Fort Valley State University celebrates 130 years of empowering students.  13WMAZ
  • Fall Line Brewing Co. is hosting its third annual Art After Dark Festival on Friday, March 6 (7:00-11:00 p.m.). The free event in Macon will feature glass-blowing demos, a DJ, and glow-in-the-dark artwork and beers, plus a drag show from Neon Queens courtesy of Macon Pride.  Middle Georgia Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Macon Water Authority began repairs on a four-inch water main at 3360 Ridge Avenue near Oakridge Apartment Complex Monday, Feb. 2 — the work affected up to 31 customers and is expected to finish within six to eight hours.  WGXA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Federal safety agencies and companies have issued recalls on children’s items from baby biscuits to teething toys over choking hazards & contamination risks. Consumers in Macon are advised to check their homes promptly and follow return instructions from the manufacturers.  41 WMGT
  • Atrium Health in Macon reported a rise in virus cases and urged residents to wash hands and get vaccinated as flu season continues; they noted a measles outbreak in nearby states and advised those with high fevers, chest pain, or shortness of breath to seek care.  WGXA
