- ➤ Gwenette Westbrooks, former Macon-Bibb NAACP president, was sworn in as Georgia NAACP president on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Buck Melton Community Center in Macon (local officials and members attended). She will use her local experience to strengthen leadership, boost membership, and unite communities statewide while continuing her work in Macon-Bibb. WGXA

- ➤ The Macon Water Authority announced that President and Executive Director Ron Shipman died Friday evening. The authority will share memorial arrangements soon as community members keep his family in their thoughts. WGXA

- ➤ Middle Georgia native Terrance Gore, a former major league outfielder, died at 34 on Saturday due to complications from a procedure in Panama City. He played eight seasons and is survived by his wife Britney and their three children. WGXA
- ➤ Former Jones County Greyhound and Braves player Terrance Gore died at 34 on Feb. 7 — the native, known for his speed on the basepath, played nine MLB seasons and won a World Series with Atlanta in 2021. 13WMAZ
