COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community leaders in Macon have called for a new statue or memorial and improved signage at Rosa Parks Square to honor the site’s history and dignity. They believe these upgrades will boost the park’s appeal and celebrate its role in the community.  WPGA News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Rabbit Hole, a Macon small business, was one of five in Georgia to win a $10,000 grant from the Backing Small Businesses Grant Program. The award will help it expand its inclusive shop at 811 Forsyth St and support local independent makers.  WGXA

CULTURE NEWS

  • Youth SAYS! will host its third annual ‘We Are History’ showcase at the Tubman Museum on Feb. 21 from noon to 3 p.m. The free event will feature youth reenactments led by actor Troy Bland — a youth fashion show, musical performances, STEM activities, and youth vendors will enrich the day.  41 WMGT

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A Macon man won $15,000 playing the Mighty Mustang Diggi Game on Feb. 19 on the Georgia Lottery mobile app (with proceeds benefiting education).  WGXA
  • Today at Pierce Chapel on the Wesleyan College campus, global leaders gathered at the Global Trade & Investment Symposium, held from 6 to 8 p.m., to boost exports and foreign investment by discussing economic growth with participants from 13 counties and 11 countries including Denmark, the United Kingdom and Belgium.  WGXA
  • The Macon-Bibb UDA signed a letter of intent to develop a casino and hotel at Macon Mall, with GLPI set to invest $2.5 million to tear down the vacant JC Penney building once state law changes allow casino gambling. Local officials say the project will boost the mall’s appeal and draw more visitors.  41 WMGT

  • Television legal analyst Nancy Grace returned to Mercer University on Wednesday for Founders’ Day, sharing how the school supported her during personal tragedy and helped shape her legal career. Her remarks celebrated Mercer's longstanding tradition (dating back to 1891) and highlighted its lasting impact on alumni.  41 WMGT

  • Macon men can join a monthly mental health meetup at Serenity Entertainment Complex (427 Poplar Street) from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on the fourth Monday; next meetup is Monday, Feb. 23, hosted by Macon Violence Prevention and Macon Mental Health Matters with facilitator Stacey Phillips.  WGXA
