- ➤ Jack’s and the Middle Georgia Food Bank raised $8,000 plus a quarter-ton of food to help local families face hunger today. The Jack’s Family Fund, which helps over 300 families each year, contributed $6,500 while a round-up campaign added $1,500. WGXA
- ➤ At Central City Apartments, a Daybreak-led project that opened in 2024, Macon resident Sophia Bailey found affordable housing offering hope and stability after years of hardship, and she now prepares to celebrate two years in her bright red home while writing her book. 13WMAZ
- ➤ Downtown Macon's Bearfoot Tavern is expanding its offerings with flight and racing simulators for a new space opening on March 6, while Bibb County School District hosts a recruitment fair at Westside High School Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. until noon. 41 WMGT
- ➤ Retired physician Patrick Roche volunteers every Thursday at Daybreak Resource Center by doing laundry for roughly 100 homeless people served daily with help from over 70 volunteers+ he says the work gives him purpose and reminds him that caring for others binds the community. 13WMAZ

- ➤ May Pang, John Lennon’s former companion, will display photos of the Beatle at Gallery West this weekend — the exhibit runs Friday from noon to 7 p.m. and includes a reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Macon Melody
- ➤ Vineville Academy celebrated Black History Month on Thursday with student performances and guest speakers who honored African American leaders (including Maya Angelou and Little Richard) at the event. Assistant principal Timothy Deas said the school will continue celebrating Black history all year to inspire students. 41 WMGT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ School Superintendent Dan Sims noted Bibb County recorded nearly 1,000 extra absences on Mondays and Fridays, with chronic absenteeism at 24.5% in a February report. District officials are working with a truancy specialist and community partners to cut the rate by half and urge families to ensure children attend school. The Macon Melody
