ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Thursday, an EF-1 tornado damaged homes, snapped trees, and hurt metal buildings along Lakeview Drive in Peach County before crossing into Houston County; crews continue clearing debris while tornadoes also hit Bibb and Macon Counties.  41 WMGT

  • The East Laurens Lady Falcons made school history by winning their first state championship in girls basketball, defeating the Elbert County Lady Blue Devils 63-55. The team held their lead with strong play and sealed a landmark win.  13WMAZ
  • Central Georgia Technical College’s men's basketball team beat Southern Crescent 75-65 at Titans Arena in Macon to advance to the GCAA Tournament semifinal; they were set to face Gordon State at 6 p.m. Friday.  41 WMGT
  • The Central Georgia Technical College women’s basketball team beat Albany Tech 96-70 on Thursday night in Americus to advance to Friday’s GCAA championship game, which will decide the automatic NJCAA Women’s National Tournament bid in Lake Charles from March 24 to 31.  41 WMGT
  • The East Laurens Lady Falcons won the GHSA Class A Division I state championship Friday (at the Macon Coliseum) when they beat Elbert County 63-55. Deanna Lowther earned MVP honors as the Falcons finished 28-4 while Elbert County ended 22-9.  41 WMGT
