  • The annual Pink Pancake Breakfast returns during the Cherry Blossom Festival at Luther Williams Stadium with food, entertainment, and a fundraiser for United in Pink. The event will take place Saturday, Mar. 21 and Mar. 28 from 7 to 10:30 a.m.  41 WMGT
  • Buddhist monk Dam Phommasan, who lost his leg during a crash on his cross-country walk for peace, received a prosthetic leg from Mercer On Mission on Wednesday in Macon, Georgia. Dr. Brandon Tran led his fitting in hours as Phommasan continues spreading his message — a hopeful step forward.  41 WMGT

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 44th International Cherry Blossom Festival returns to Macon from March 20 to 29 with parades, concerts, food vendors, rides and races across the city. Events include a parade on March 22, entertainment at Carolyn Crayton Park and Pink Pancake Breakfasts at Luther Williams Field by the Macon-Bibb Fire Department.  41 WMGT
  • Cherry Blossom Festival kicks off in Macon (44th annual) today with forecasts predicting highs in the mid to upper 70s this afternoon and sunny conditions continuing into the weekend.  41 WMGT
  • Music lovers get a busy weekend in Macon. Today, Joe Bonamassa performs at the Atrium Health Amphitheater at 8 p.m.—tomorrow, the free Cherry Blossom Concert at St. Joseph Catholic Church starts at 7 p.m. while Emmylou Harris plays a sold-out show at Piedmont Grand Opera House at 7:30 p.m.  The Macon Melody
  • Today, award-winning playwright Kevin Ray Johnson opens his original show 'The Unpredictable Times' at Macon Little Theatre — located at 4220 Forsyth Road — marking its first full production since 2021. Set in summer 2007, the play follows college friends reuniting in their hometown.  The Macon Melody

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A Macon lottery player won $125,000 after matching all five numbers in the Fantasy 5 drawing. The winning ticket was bought at Citgo Food Mart on Rocky Creek Road, according to the Georgia Lottery.  WGXA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority currently operates over 40 vehicles, including electric buses & vans funded by a $1.75 million FTA grant, and is piloting a rideshare rapid transit service to expand county coverage. Service runs Monday-Friday from 5:20 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday with reduced hours.  WPGA News
  • Gov. Kemp plans to sign a bill on Friday to suspend the motor fuel tax, which could lower gas prices by about 33 cents per gallon statewide—providing relief as the lowest price in Macon is now $3.45.  41 WMGT

  • On March 19, Dairy Queen offered free vanilla cones at locations in Macon and Middle Georgia for Free Cone Day + a spring kickoff. Customers entered a sweepstakes for a year of free cones by downloading the DQ app + signing in to DQ Rewards while supplies lasted.  41 WMGT

  • Last week, a regional match saw ACE Gryphons defeat Central Chargers 3-0 in a contest that featured brothers DJ Fanning and Jameson Fanning playing on opposite teams, drawing a large local crowd.
