Last Saturday, more than 60 vintage cars and the Jones County Cruisers took part in the 13th Annual Varsity Reunion Benefit Car Show at Sid’s Sandwich Shop in Macon, which raised funds to help Glenda Haggard fight Stage 4 pancreatic cancer with all proceeds donated toward her medical expenses.
Firefighters and families served pink pancakes at Luther Williams Field on Saturday to raise funds for United in Pink—a nonprofit that helps breast cancer survivors.
Organizers plan to repeat the breakfast next Saturday — Mar. 28 from 7 to 10:30 a.m.
Macon’s Cherry Blossom Festival kicked off this weekend — featuring bed races, wiener dog dashes and dock-diving dogs — and will run through March 29 at Carolyn Crayton Park.
Admission is $10 per person and free for children 10 and under.
