COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Hundreds gathered on Saturday in downtown Macon for the 43rd International Cherry Blossom Festival, also known as the Pinkest Party on Earth, as Cherry Street turned pink with events like the Wiener Dog Race and Bed Race. Local competitor Chili earned her third win in the dog race and the Macon-Bibb Fire Department retained its bed race title (the festival is an annual community tradition) (residents celebrate local culture).  13WMAZ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 19-year-old passenger died and her 20-year-old driver remains in critical condition after a Kia Soul struck a pole on Bloomfield Road around 4:30 a.m. on March 16th—authorities are investigating the accident.  WGXA
  • A single-car crash early Sunday morning on Bloomfield Road near Rocky Creek Road killed a 19-year-old passenger and left a 20-year-old driver critically injured after the vehicle struck a pole, and emergency crews took the injured driver to a nearby hospital—officials said the crash is under investigation.  41 WMGT
