- ➤ Downtown businesses are enjoying a boost as the annual cherry blossom festival draws crowds and offers creative opportunities (spurring local growth) to vendors and residents. This festival brings a vibrant atmosphere right into the heart of the community. WPGA News
- ➤ Eliphalet E. Brown, an 1800s Macon alderman and hotel owner, converted an old Baptist church into a theatre near Mulberry and later built The Brown Hotel, which survived repeated fires. He and his 14 family members are buried at Rose Hill Cemetery (near Central Avenue). The Macon Melody
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ L.H. Williams Elementary hosted Leadership Day Friday, where students showcased leadership skills and character education to parents (part of the school's effort to become a lighthouse school). The school said it will host the event again next year. 41 WMGT
- ➤ At David Perdue Primary School, nine second graders earned the Top Rookie Award in a regional robotics competition and are heading to nationals today at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City.
