- ➤ Eliphalet E. Brown, an 1800s Macon alderman and hotel owner, converted an old Baptist church into a theatre near Mulberry and later built The Brown Hotel, which survived repeated fires. He and his 14 family members are buried at Rose Hill Cemetery (near Central Avenue). The Macon Melody
