- ➤ The Magnolia Soap Box Derby is set to take place next weekend in Macon on April 12 at 11 a.m.—the event will feature 12 middle and high school teams, food trucks, music, and activities for all ages. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Macon woman faces criminal charges after her boyfriend found her newborn in a trash bag on the porch while she was at the hospital for excessive bleeding—she did not tell anyone that she had given birth, and authorities charged her with reckless abandonment and first-degree cruelty to children. 13WMAZ
- ➤ A 22-year-old Macon mother was arrested Tuesday after she left her newborn on her front porch wrapped in a trash bag—her boyfriend brought her to the hospital for heavy bleeding before he returned to find the baby making noises, and officers charged her with criminal attempt to commit felony murder, reckless abandonment of a child and first-degree cruelty to children. - ➤ Julian Derwayne Coker, leader of a Middle Georgia drug trafficking ring, was sentenced to 28 years in prison—adding 10 years of supervised release and a $10,000 fine—after pleading guilty to selling meth in Macon during 2022. WGXA
- ➤ The Warner Robins Police arrested 22-year-old Nicholas Jenkins after he fatally shot 21-year-old Shaquez Head on March 28 at 5:43 p.m. on the 100 block of Buford Drive—Head died on April 1. 41 WMGT

- ➤ Macon-Bibb County leaders are studying options to upgrade the outdated Coliseum along Coliseum Drive as part of a $450 SPLOST project that begins in October. Officials say a new arena will include modern features—better seating, more concession stands, and improved railings—to support local events. 13WMAZ

- ➤ The Georgia Department of Public Health released food service inspection scores for Middle Georgia restaurants taken from March 24 to March 28—scores of 69 and below are shown in red, scores from 70 to 99 in black, and scores of 100 in green. 41 WMGT
