ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A house fire in Lizella claimed the life of 68-year-old Gary Pritchett and killed three dogs early Saturday morning—firefighters from Macon-Bibb arrived at 1:22 a.m. and doused heavy flames at the home on the 2900 block of South Lizella Road. WGXA
- ➤ Late Monday night, a vehicle drove off Tucker Road bridge and hit a power pole on I-475 in Macon, closing all lanes and prompting deputies to search for the missing driver while downed power lines left over 3,000 customers without electricity. 41 WMGT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Bibb County deputies are searching for 71-year-old Allen Scott 'Buzz' Hill III who was last seen by a family member on April 2 when he was dropped off at the parking lot of Piedmont Macon (350 Hospital Drive) and did not check himself into the hospital as planned (he is about six feet tall and weighs around 200 pounds with long gray hair). - ➤ The Middle Georgia Regional Library is developing contingency plans to keep its services running as federal funding from IMLS is cut amid a staffing freeze announced in a March 14 executive order. Grants for the summer reading program and services for the blind have been reduced — staff remain unsure how next year will unfold. The Macon Melody
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A survey team from the National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down Sunday afternoon in south Bibb County and moved nearly eight miles into Twiggs County with estimated peak winds of 90 mph. Damage surveys showed no injuries (further details indicate the tornado's path widened as it moved into Twiggs County). 13WMAZ

- ➤ GDOT announced that Macon's Second Street Bridge is closed indefinitely after an equipment truck hit it and damaged its beams—motorists are advised to use Walnut Street detours for their commute. WGXA
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Piedmont Macon Medical Center opened its new Obstetrics Emergency Department to give women immediate care for prenatal and postpartum issues—staffed by a board-certified physician available 24 hours for patients 20 weeks or more in their pregnancy.
