- ➤ Yesterday, Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful and Publix partnered at Memorial Park Recreation Center where 25 Publix employees and Parks & Beautification Department volunteers picked up trash and debris. The cleanup is part of Publix Serves Week, during which more than 7,000 associates from eight states will volunteer on environmental projects over the next two weeks. 41 WMGT

- ➤ Josh Rogers, the late CEO of NewTown Macon, was named a 2025 Mary Means Leadership Award recipient by Main Street America for his work in saving old buildings and improving downtown—he was chosen by a national jury for boosting investment, increasing store use, and creating new lofts to help residents. This award honors his lasting impact on commercial district revitalization and stands as a tribute to his vision for Macon. 41 WMGT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Macon District Attorney Anita Howard announced on April 9th that Bibb County Sheriff's officers will not face charges after reviewing surveillance video, body-worn camera footage, witness statements, taser records, and an autopsy report, concluding that the force used against inmate Stephen Fossett (who died on May 25th, 2024, after a drug-induced, combative incident at Bibb County Jail) was reasonable under Georgia law. 41 WMGT

- ➤ Piedmont Macon opened a new obstetrics emergency department that gives pregnant women immediate specialized care for unexpected prenatal and postpartum issues. The department operates 24 hours daily and is staffed by board-certified physicians who evaluate patients from 20 weeks — with a level 3 NICU available for critical neonatal care. 41 WMGT
- ➤ Johnsonville is recalling over 22,000 pounds of cheddar bratwurst produced on February 5—packaged in sealed trays and distributed in 10 states including Georgia—after two complaints reported the presence of hard plastic, and consumers are urged today to discard or return the affected products. 13WMAZ
