- ➤ Magnolia Soapbox Derby returns to downtown Macon on Saturday, Apr. 11 with races starting at 11 a.m. and will feature high school and community teams, food trucks, live entertainment, a STEM zone, and special drum and dance performances — the free event will take place rain or shine. 41 WMGT
- ➤ A local lineman keeps Central Georgia's lights on by promptly addressing each trouble call & restoring service, ensuring residents have reliable power in their neighborhoods. 13WMAZ
- ➤ The Community Foundation of Central Georgia awarded grants to more than 20 nonprofits supporting education, health care, housing, and the arts across the region (including $24,000 for Prevent Blindness Georgia to provide school vision care). 41 WMGT
- ➤ Bibb County has received a $1M grant to expand the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail and enhance local outdoor recreation; officials say work will begin soon. 13WMAZ

- ➤ Contour Airlines will begin new nonstop flights from the Middle Georgia Regional Airport to Fort Lauderdale and Baltimore starting June 9. Fort Lauderdale service will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays while Baltimore flights will operate daily with extra morning departures on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. 13WMAZ
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Macon's Otis Redding Center for the Arts celebrates its first anniversary Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cotton Avenue and First Street in downtown, with live music, food, vendors and art planned for the event. The Macon Melody
- ➤ The Warner Robins Little Theatre will present Musical Madness at Unity Grove Academy from April 17-19. Tickets cost $15 and can be bought online or in person. 41 WMGT
- ➤ Bragg Jam 2026 has announced headliners Kashus Culpepper and Langhorne Slim, who will perform downtown on July 25. The event (celebrating 50 years of The Rookery) will also feature a special performance by The Buckleys. WGXA

- ➤ Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia is hosting a free job fair on April 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Anderson Conference Center, where up to 40 employers will connect with job seekers and offer resume help and professional clothing (available nearby). 41 WMGT

- ➤ The GeorgiaFIRST Robotics Peachtree District Championship is underway at Mercer University’s Hawkins Arena in Macon, where 45 top teams among more than 5,000 students compete for a spot in the FIRST World Championship in Houston as the free event runs until Saturday, Apr. 11 (spectators are welcome).
