- ➤ The Community Foundation of Central Georgia awarded over $345,000 to more than 20 nonprofits on Thursday afternoon at the Fire Station off Napier Avenue. Grants ranged from $7,500 to $23,000 (helping small groups build experience) and will support programs in Bibb and Houston counties. The Macon Melody

- ➤ Cirrus Academy’s closure was extended, and a new plant will open soon while additional Macon flights are scheduled, as reported on 13WMAZ’s Morning Rush. 13WMAZ
- ➤ AutoZone plans to redevelop the long-vacant Gold Cup Bowling Center site on Pio Nono Avenue in Macon (creating 50 to 60 jobs) while a Jack in the Box proposal goes before the county on May 11. A Buc-ee’s travel center is under construction in Forsyth to add 200 full-time jobs. 41 WMGT

- ➤ Gallery West in downtown has been a hub for Kirk West's rock photography and will host its final First Friday event on May 1 before closing permanently on May 31 as owner Kirsten West retires (she is 80) and a new operator may take over the space. WGXA
- ➤ Award-winning food critic Hanna Raskin moved to Macon last summer and now runs her publication The Food Section from her Shirley Hills home. Her work covers nine Southern states, and she will release a new food map tribute in June (a nod to her Roadfood inspiration). The Macon Melody
- ➤ Central Georgians joined a watch party at the Museum of Arts and Sciences last Friday to cheer on Artemis II— the first moon mission in over 50 years— as its astronauts splashed down after a 10-day journey. The museum hosted the event after-hours at 8 p.m. 13WMAZ
- ➤ Phaedra Parks returns to The Real Housewives of Atlanta as Season 17 began this past weekend on Bravo TV. The series features her local ties from Wesleyan College — adding extra hometown interest as new drama unfolds with episodes airing weekly on Sundays at 8:00 p.m. 41 WMGT

- ➤ Local transporters in Macon are facing higher costs as diesel prices have risen to $5.35 a gallon amid pressure from the Iran war and supply chain disruptions. Gov. Brian Kemp signed a bill on March 20 suspending the motor fuel excise tax until May 19 to ease the burden. The Macon Melody
