ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ More than 10,200 gallons of sewage overflowed near 3040 Greenbriar Road East in south Macon on Friday because of heavy rains—cleanup is underway with debris removed, enzyme treatment applied, and the Macon Water Authority will hire a contractor to inspect the sewer main and pinpoint the cause. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Macon Water Authority is repairing a 12-inch water main at 6210 Thomaston Road, and residents and businesses from 6199 to 6686 face water outages and low pressure during the emergency repair which will last 6-8 hours. 41 WMGT
- ➤ The IRS and Georgia have extended the tax filing deadline to May 1 for taxpayers impacted by Hurricane Helene. Residents in Macon who qualify are urged to contact the agency for penalty fee waivers — the extension covers individual returns and certain business filings. 13WMAZ
