  • Local families have a fun weekend planned with a food truck festival at Carolyn Crayton Park on Saturday, a strawberry festival at Dickey Farms also on Saturday, a circus at the coliseum today, and a dog parade at Barks N Brews on Sunday.  41 WMGT
  • Loaves and Fishes Ministry is hosting its 'Take A Bite Out of Hunger' pickleball fundraiser (cost: $20 per player) in April at various venues across Middle Georgia to help families facing homelessness. The ministry plans to expand its programs by boosting refrigeration to double fresh food delivery.  41 WMGT

CULTURE NEWS

  • After a year-long postponement, the Sixth Annual Little Richard Festival returns Saturday at Jefferson Long Park with live music, food, and family activities for all ages.  13WMAZ
  • Melody Lundstrom, a former UGA majorette, is hosting a two-day summer baton twirling clinic for local youth with skill sessions, creative routines, and a concluding showcase for families + community participants. All are welcome and no experience is needed.  Middle Georgia Times

  • At its recent annual meeting, the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority reported that every public dollar is spurring $75 in private investment and highlighted the groundbreaking for a Bob’s Discount Furniture distribution center on Cavalier Drive, boosting the county’s industrial growth.  The Macon Melody

HEALTH NEWS

  • Atrium Health Navicent runs a 637-bed hospital at 777 Hemlock St after a long change from city ownership to a nonprofit model following a 1994 board restructure that set up a 40-year lease with Central Georgia Health Systems — the shift has allowed millions to be reinvested in local health services.  The Macon Melody

  • Bailey DeWitt, a 10-year-old soccer player from Crawford County, has won pitchside tickets to an upcoming World Cup match after a surprise video call with U.S. Women’s National Team player Gisele Thompson. She will attend the Spain versus Cape Verde game in Atlanta in June.  41 WMGT
  • Stratford Eagle basketball player Landon Gates signed with Fort Valley State University Wildcats today — continuing a family legacy as his father also played there.  13WMAZ
  • Monster Jam will thrill fans at Macon Coliseum on May 1 and 2 with motorsports featuring races, stunts, and the debut of Sparkle Smash (a 6-ton unicorn truck). Shows are at 7:00 PM on May 1 and at 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM on May 2.  Middle Georgia Times
