COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Genesis Joy House has launched a transitional housing solution for homeless female veterans in Central Georgia that will help them build credit—allowing them to save for permanent homes.  13WMAZ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Early Tuesday morning at 2:48 a.m. on Hawkinsville Road near South Avondale Circle, a 60-year-old Macon motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene—Bibb deputies are investigating the crash and asking witnesses to come forward.  41 WMGT

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Georgia Department of Public Health released food service inspection scores for Middle Georgia restaurants (including several in Macon) from April 28 to May 2, showing that establishments scoring below 70 are unsatisfactory, those scoring 70 to 99 are satisfactory, and a perfect 100 is marked as such (using red, black, and green color codes).  41 WMGT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Macon’s public transit helps riders without personal vehicles by running 11 fixed routes Monday through Saturday from 5:30 a.m.—and it also offers real-time tracking, discounted fare options and Paratransit support for those with special needs.  The Macon Newsroom
  • Bibb County Sheriff’s Office resumed school zone camera citations for Macon during school arrival and dismissal times—drivers speeding 11 mph over the limit will be ticketed. Two local schools have opted out so no citations will be issued in those zones.  41 WMGT

SPORTS NEWS

  • ACE beat East Laurens 4-0 in a playoff game at Perkins Field, with Bayleigh Loosier scoring twice as the team moved to the Final Four—where they will host a semifinal against Model on Thursday.  The Macon Melody
