A man was killed on I-75 near the Pio Nono Avenue on-ramp early Sunday in Macon when a 34-year-old driver did not see him—Bibb County deputies responded before 6 a.m. and pronounced him dead at 6:30 a.m.

Last winter, local gardens brightened when the Lenten rose—a hardy hellebore that does not wait for spring—bloomed and helped feed early bees; UGA Extension expert Kathy Hensley said the plant grows well in shady spots, resists deer, and shows blossoms in many colors.

Gardeners found it to be an easy option for adding winter charm.
