- ➤ On Tuesday, Habitat for Humanity and Bibb County School District gave the Vinson family keys to a new four-bedroom house on Worsham Avenue in Lynmore Estates. Youth from the SOAR Academy YouthBuild program helped build the house — local sponsors such as Publix Super Markets Charities, All-State Electrical and LE Schwartz supported the project. 41 WMGT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Georgia Supreme Court upheld Robert Kyle Dougherty's 2012 murder conviction for his role in a drug deal on Zebulon Road in Monroe County—he claimed he only drove but evidence showed he supplied the gun, bullets and helped cover up the killing of Trevorious Thomas. 13WMAZ
- ➤ Deputies responded just after 11:30 p.m. Monday at Freedom Park where they found a 39-year-old man with a gunshot wound near the lake — the victim was pronounced dead on scene and the investigation is ongoing. WGXA

- ➤ Zelma Redding received an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from Mercer University on Monday morning in Macon—she led the Otis Redding Foundation and helped many children access music education. Her family applauded the honor as a long overdue recognition of her hard work and her husband's legacy. 13WMAZ

- ➤ Macon-Bibb County is set to invest $50 million to repave roads using a new SPLOST renewal; the project will begin soon to improve local travel. 13WMAZ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Georgia Department of Public Health released a Restaurant Report Card showing food service inspection scores for Middle Georgia restaurants from May 5 to May 9 — the report shows scores below 70 are unsatisfactory, scores from 70 to 99 are satisfactory, and scores of 100 are perfect across multiple counties. 41 WMGT

- ➤ The Houston County Bears swept the Loganville Red Devils in the GHSA AAAAA Semifinal Round at The Garden, winning 4-1 in game one and 5-2 in game two to advance to the State Championship. They will face Newnan at CoolRay Field next week for a chance at their fifth state title. 41 WMGT
