  • Walgreens will close its Macon store at 4305 Mercer University Drive on May 21 as part of a plan to cut 1,200 stores (aiming to stabilize its retail pharmacy) and reduce operating costs. Patients will have their prescriptions automatically transferred to the 3888 Vineville Avenue location (with a free 90-day delivery) to help ease the switch.  13WMAZ

CRIME NEWS

  • A shooting at a Macon graduation party on Saturday morning at Williamson Road left one dead and two injured—25-year-old Jaurice Haywood died at the scene while Jetorin Burton and Tyrese Rivers were taken to hospital, with Burton in critical condition.  13WMAZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • The FPD Vikings beat George Walton 9-0 on Friday night in a GIAA Class AAAA girls soccer game—Bowen Matthews scored six first-half goals and the win improved their record to 17-1. Coach Seth Berkebile said extra practice helped the team start strong and they will next face St. Anne-Pacelli.  The Macon Melody
