ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Three firefighters were injured when a Macon-Bibb fire engine overturned near College and Magnolia Streets Wednesday night at 5 p.m.—deputies say the crash is under investigation and College Street remains blocked. 41 WMGT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Rick Devens—a Macon native and communications director at Middle Georgia State University—will return on CBS’s Survivor 50th season in Spring 2026 after finishing fourth on season 38 in Fiji and receiving a $100,000 prize from pop star Sia. Middle Georgia State University congratulated him on social media as Survivor host Jeff Probst announced his return along with 23 other returning players. 13WMAZ
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The 2025 Cherry Blossom Festival generated a $6.5 million boost to Macon's economy with 41,287 visitors (many from over 50 miles away) during its run (March 21–30). 41 WMGT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Promise Scholarship received 732 applications from Bibb County Schools students—about 3.5% of the district—and offers $6,500 to families who choose private school or homeschooling as an alternative to public education. Applicants learned of their eligibility after the first round closed on April 15, the program will reopen in June, and funds will start in July. The Macon Melody
