- ➤ Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful received $7,500 to fund beautification efforts in East Macon—$2,500 will boost litter reduction at Fort Hill Community Park and $5,000 will support a gardening program at MLK Elementary. 41 WMGT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Three inmates at Central State Prison in Macon face felony charges for allegedly stabbing inmate Tyler Jackson on February 12 between noon and 1 p.m.—the Georgia Department of Corrections confirmed the arrests—while all suspects remain in custody. 41 WMGT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Macon-Bibb leaders proposed a $219.8M Fiscal-Year 2026 budget that will boost funding in many areas and keep the millage rate at 9.9 mills. The commission will vote on the plan on June 17 at 6 p.m. after a public hearing where residents pressed for affordable housing, community safety, and a $2.4M boost for public safety. 13WMAZ
- ➤ State Sen. John F. Kennedy discussed his bid for lieutenant governor during an interview with Megan Western on 13WMAZ—he explained his campaign goals and the issues driving his run for higher office. 13WMAZ
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Mercer University and Macon-Bibb announced today that LA Football Club will use Macon as its practice facility for the 2026 FIFA Club World Cup — a move expected to bring millions from sports tourism and establish Macon as one of three World Cup base sites in the state. WGXA
- ➤ Los Angeles Football Club will practice at Mercer University in Macon over the next few weeks as they get ready to play Chelsea on June 16 at 3 p.m. Macon was also picked as a practice site for the 2026 World Cup (no team has been assigned yet). 13WMAZ
