- ➤ Bibb County Sheriff's Office arrested a third suspect in a fatal shooting at an apartment complex off Rocky Creek Road after 22-year-old Marcus Cunningham Jr. was shot on June 5—35-year-old Alfonso Jose Hyman is charged with murder, joining two others in the case. 13WMAZ
- ➤ Macon man Terrance Williams was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter (20 years) and a firearm charge (5 consecutive years) for the fatal shooting of Eddie Thomas during a domestic dispute in February 2022. 41 WMGT
- ➤ Warner Robins police unveiled a new Real-Time Crime Center — built to give officers fast, accurate information so they could respond quickly when help was needed. The center improved response times by sending real-time data during emergencies. WPGA News
- ➤ Authorities arrested a third suspect on Tuesday in connection with the fatal Autumn Trace Apartments shooting in Macon, where 22-year-old Marcus Cunningham Jr. died from a gunshot wound—35-year-old Alfonso Jose Hyman is now held without bond. WGXA
- ➤ Five people were arrested after failed contraband attempts at Washington State Prison in Washington County—Jabriuos Seals was taken into custody at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday after carrying a backpack on prison grounds and four Macon residents were stopped on Highway 24 at 11:15 p.m. a day later when contraband was found, and detectives continue to investigate the incidents. - ➤ The Bibb County School Board will vote at 6:30 p.m. today on a $396 million budget proposal that includes new positions, a 3% teacher raise, and plans to address a $20 million deficit. Community members have voiced their views—parent Kerry Hatcher supports a new K-5 English Language Arts role, while retired principal Julia Daniely and parent Renoalda Scott expressed concerns over spending and the need for a truancy officer. 13WMAZ

- ➤ Macon-Bibb leaders approved a $219.8 million budget for fiscal year 2026 that will take effect July 1 and keeps the millage rate the same despite an $8 million increase from last year. The budget gives $122 million for public safety, $4.5 million for beautification, $8.5 million for IT, and $58 million for the sheriff's office—county officials plan creative funding for a new jail facility—to avoid a tax hike. 13WMAZ

- ➤ Dr. Nicholas Michalakis from Piedmont Macon warned that ticks carrying Lyme disease and other illnesses pose a risk as locals spend more time outdoors this summer. He advised using sterilized tweezers for tick removal — and to call 911 immediately if bitten by a venomous snake. 41 WMGT
- ➤ The Macon-Bibb County Health Department suspended food service permits for six local operations that owed fees for three or more years, including four restaurants, a church, and a nursing home.
