  • Pet Party Palace opened in downtown Macon to offer indoor playtime and portrait sessions for pets and their owners — Lateefah Conner started the venue after using artificial intelligence ideas and training at local business programs.  WGXA
  • Two local residents—Melissa Haro and Clayton Campbell—cleaned up trash from an abandoned gas station parking lot beside Unique II Auto Detailing on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, easing business owner Bernard Bronner’s worries after months of neglect.  WGXA

CRIME NEWS

  • A Washington County man from Eatonton, 36-year-old Bradley Lee Clark, was arrested on June 16 around 6:30 p.m. after a deputy on Highway 540 clocked his car at 92 mph in a 65 mph zone and used a PIT maneuver when the vehicle fled—he faces charges for DUI, fleeing officers, drug possession and other traffic violations while his 31-year-old passenger, Khai Green, faces drug possession and failure to wear a seatbelt.  41 WMGT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • AT&T opened a Connected Learning Center yesterday morning at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia in Macon, providing free fast internet, WiFi and Dell computers for residents. The center offers free educational resources and mentoring to youth, families and learners in Macon-Bibb County as part of AT&T's national effort to bridge the digital divide.  41 WMGT

HEALTH NEWS

  • FreshRealm recalled all Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo dishes made before June 17 in Macon County due to a potential link to a deadly listeria outbreak that has sickened 17 and killed 3, according to the USDA. Customers who bought Marketside or Home Chef products at Walmart or Kroger are urged to check their best-by dates and establishment numbers—which include EST. P-50784, EST. P-47770, or EST.
