- ➤ Girl Scout Sierra Hoffman earned a $5,000 Gold Award Scholarship after her project raised environmental awareness through community cleanups and a tree giveaway—collecting over 900 pounds of waste and more than 1,530 trees. - ➤ The Macon Transit Authority will test a new ride on demand pilot program for volunteer riders starting July 7 until October by using five electric vans to serve areas from Shirley Hills to Mercer University. Riders will pay $5 during the day and $8 after 6 p.m. —officials say the pilot will help gather data for future expansion. The Macon Melody
- ➤ Georgia's new fentanyl law takes effect today—lawmakers say it will impose harsher penalties on traffickers of the drug. Senate Bill 79 aims to curb fentanyl trafficking in the state. 13WMAZ
