Recovery teams resumed their search early Saturday on Lake Sinclair for a 30-year-old man who fell from a jet ski on Friday — boaters are asked to keep their watercraft at idle speeds near Optimist Island.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting from July 4 at 11:23 p.m. on the 1100 block of Sparkle Avenue in Macon that left a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound in critical but stable condition after paramedics provided emergency care and transported him to a nearby hospital—details on suspects or a motive remain unknown.

Many snake species in Middle Georgia are harmless and help control pests in gardens and yards by reducing rodents.
Wildlife experts say most snakes, including rat snakes (black with a light belly), are non-venomous and legally protected (it is illegal to kill them) so residents can remove brush piles or call a specialist if needed.
