Three pedestrian accidents—one fatal and two hit-and-run—occurred in Bibb County in the last 48 hours, and the sheriff's office investigated the cases as locals blamed poor road design for the risk.

Following a July 4 shooting on Sparkle Avenue that left a 24-year-old man in critical condition, Bibb County deputies arrested 18-year-old Dontavis Anquan Jackson and 24-year-old Michael Winston Burney during a 10 a.m. traffic stop near Fairfax Drive and Bloomfield Road on Thursday—firearms, including two stolen guns, were recovered—and later charged 17-year-old Terrace Quantae Austin with separate offenses.

Four Macon men—Denzelle Willis got 23 years, James Fuller got 15 years, Julio Mendez got 11 years and Deion Howard got 4 years—were sentenced for meth trafficking after they pleaded guilty on March 24 and will not have parole.
