Good morning, Macon. Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 21st of July.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Residents (including Idus Smith) near the proposed Bolingbroke Technology Campus in Monroe County say the $5.8 billion data center will hurt their rural community with constant noise and environmental harm. Supporters plan for nine buildings on 900 acres to create 200 to 250 jobs and tax revenue (with landowners reportedly set to get about $60 million) while locals warn the project may force relocations and lead to a long legal fight if approved.  13WMAZ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Early Saturday at around 4 a.m., the Bibb County Sheriff's Office reported that a 28-year-old woman died in a fiery crash on Log Cabin Drive in west Macon when her Toyota Corolla collided head-on with a Buick — deputies removed her from the burning car and the other driver was taken to a hospital in stable condition.  13WMAZ
