- ➤ Newton Collier, a Macon icon known for playing with Sam + Dave, turned 80 this week + he now mentors young local musicians and will be honored in a documentary on Aug. 22 at Theatre Macon during the film festival. The Macon Melody
- ➤ Bragg Jam will hold a concert crawl on July 26 with headliners American Aquarium and Susto and events at several venues including Vice Bar, a new spot for local artists. The festival will include secret Muddy Mystery Shows and a family event at the Otis Redding Center of the Arts at 11 a.m. to honor Brax and Tate Bragg’s legacy and celebrate Macon’s music heritage. - ➤ James Reeves from Monroe County did not file his taxes between 2009 and 2012 and claimed IRS rules did not apply to him, but a federal judge ruled his arguments meritless and ordered him to pay $275,289 in taxes, fees, and interest. 13WMAZ
- ➤ Georgia Senators Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff have written a letter urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to have the Department of Justice investigate Bibb County Jail after reports detailed poor conditions, violent incidents, and unsanitary surroundings—including a fatal stabbing on June 4th and other dangerous events.
