ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said a Ford struck a 49-year-old pedestrian on Hawkinsville Road Monday night near the intersection of McMillian Drive—she was taken to a local hospital where she died.  41 WMGT

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kinjo Kitchen + Cocktails closed permanently on Monday after 5 years at Poplar and 2nd Street in downtown Macon. The restaurant canceled plans to reformat after it had scheduled a temporary closure on Aug. 23 due to changed circumstances.  13WMAZ

CRIME NEWS

  • A Bibb County jury convicted Jaylen Smith and Jordan Mullis of felony murder in connection with the November 19 shooting death of 18-year-old Montaveous Raines Jr.—prosecutors said he was shot multiple times during a drug dispute in the parking lot of Lake Wildwood Baptist Church.  41 WMGT
  • Florida and Georgia authorities are searching for two missing children, aged 3 and 11, who were last seen leaving a Florida foster home at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 18 in a black Toyota Camry with front-end damage plus they are with their non-custodial mother who has an active warrant for child neglect.  13WMAZ
  • Sgt. Greg Thomas from Macon Regional Crimestoppers appeared on 41Today to seek tips on five individuals wanted in Middle Georgia—one of whom is sought by the Jones County Sheriff’s Office for aggravated assault—and urged anyone with information to call 1-877-682-7463.  41 WMGT
  • A 12-year-old boy was shot on Mint Green Lane Sunday evening in South Macon and taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition while six children were arrested following related shootings on Silver Pines Drive — authorities say disputes on social media may have fueled the violence.  13WMAZ

  • Jordan Ray, a local actor and Central High School graduate, returned to his alma mater on August 4 to start teaching theater classes. He uses both traditional methods and original material—hoping to spark a love for the performing arts among his students.  The Macon Melody

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After more than half a year of detours, the Bass Road bridge in North Macon will reopen Saturday morning, giving local drivers a shorter route. Bibb County officials will vote this week on a $100,000 GDOT study—reviewing plans to widen a 1.5-mile stretch of Bass Road from Providence Boulevard to New Forsyth Road.  13WMAZ
