A 46-year-old man was shot near the Murphy USA gas station in west Macon and died at 10:15 a.m.—the shooter is in custody.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a driver died after crashing his vehicle into a west Macon church—police said the crash ended a chase with Bibb deputies.

Five new school zone speed cameras will be activated in Macon-Bibb on September 3 as the sheriff’s office will issue warnings for 30 days and then begin citations on October 4— the cameras will operate during school hours at sites such as Northwoods Academy and Bruce Elementary while deputies monitor the zones.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office announced that five new school zone cameras will be installed outside elementary schools in Macon to issue warnings from Sept.

3 to Oct. 3—tickets will start on Oct. 4.
