CRIME NEWS

  • After a police chase ended with a white Infiniti crashing into Abundant Word of Grace Church on Napier Avenue early Sunday morning and killing 37‐year‐old Larry Sellers Jr., pastor Hilliard Arline said the church will hold outdoor services on Sunday—if weather permits—to comfort the grieving family while repairs begin.  13WMAZ
  • Authorities are looking for Brittney Wyatt, a 30 year old Macon woman with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder who was last seen walking on Calhoun Street around 10 p.m. on Saturday night—her caregiver reported her missing and described her as white with blond hair, blue eyes, wearing an orange shirt and rolled sweatpants.  WGXA

CULTURE NEWS

  • This fall, a ghost hunt is scheduled at Burke Mansion on October 3—marking the first time visitors can explore the historic house after dark. Actress Carrie Genzel will lead paranormal investigator Jonathan Morgan and spiritual medium Morrighan Lynne as guests enjoy a cocktail reception and a walking tour as part of the immersive event.  41 WMGT
  • In honor of Labor Day, Macon workers like musician B. Keith Williams, zamboni driver James Wolf, engineer and life coach Rachel Moore, and magician Mike Fuller showed that their jobs are more than just work—each turns a daily task into an art that inspires our community. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Macon-Bibb County is adding five school zone speeding cameras that will issue warnings tomorrow and begin handing out citations the next day until Oct. 3, and they will operate during school hours at sites like Bruce Elementary and Northwoods Academy—drivers are urged to plan for extra travel time.  WGXA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Bibb County School District partners with First Choice Primary Care to open a new health clinic at L.H. Williams Elementary after a 34% chronic absenteeism rate was noted during the 2024-2025 school year. The clinic will offer sick and well-child visits, sports physicals and behavioral health support—services that will first be available to students, staff and their families with funding from a $1 million grant.  41 WMGT

  • Runners are gearing up for Macon's Labor Day Road Race—an event now in its 48th year that brings local athletes together to compete on a traditional course.  13WMAZ
