- ➤ A three-year-old child drowned on August 31 in a pool at Twin Oaks RV Park (on Highway 26 in Elko) and was taken to a Macon hospital where the child died on Thursday from injuries sustained in the drowning. WGXA

- ➤ Middle Georgia is hosting its first cannabis education and advocacy fundraising event today—people will learn about health benefits, hear testimonials during an educational panel, and enjoy live music with burlesque shows. - ➤ Homeowners in Macon are advised to apply a preemergence herbicide this fall to stop cool-season annual weeds like henbit, annual bluegrass, chickweed, and Carolina geranium from growing. Experts at UGA recommend using a granular formula at the optimal time during the second week in September—homeowners should then water it in to create a barrier that stops seeds from sprouting.
