ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two people were hospitalized after a box truck collided with a sedan on Eisenhower Parkway in Macon (8:30 a.m.), with the driver in stable condition and a passenger in critical but stable condition, according to deputies.  41 WMGT
  • The Bibb County Sheriff's Office investigated a Monday morning crash where a box truck collided with a sedan at the I-475 North Ramp meeting Eisenhower Parkway — paramedics treated two drivers and one passenger while deputies remained on scene.  13WMAZ

CRIME NEWS

  • A Sunday morning shooting in Eastman left one man dead and another injured when 45-year-old Terrance Travis Gordon fired his gun at a home and exchanged shots with a homeowner who claimed self-defense — Eastman Police and the GBI are investigating the case.  WGXA
  • Macon Regional Crimestoppers is asking anyone with tips to call if they know where five people are, including Marquis King wanted for aggravated assault—others face charges for probation violations, theft, firearm, drug, and animal cruelty offenses with rewards offered for leads.  41 WMGT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Brian Kunzelmann recalled being on the 61st floor of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11th as he and his colleagues evacuated when a plane hit at 9:03 a.m.—he described the building shaking, smoke filling the sky, and glass and debris falling to the street. He said he has kept the vivid details of that tragic day even after leaving Macon in 2019 and moving to North Carolina.  The Macon Melody

  • Macon-Bibb Planning and Zoning commissioners rejected the proposed DJ Vape and Smoke shop at Tipco Food Mart on Bethel Church Road — the decision came after community concerns about the store's impact, and the owner said he is considering an appeal.  13WMAZ
  • Georgia leaders reintroduced the bipartisan Ocmulgee Mounds National Park and Preserve Act which would add 7,100 acres to the park for hunting, fishing and tribal co-management while protecting private property rights. Macon officials plan to present the bill at a hearing before the House Natural Resources Subcommittee soon—hoping the measure will boost middle Georgia’s economy by $230 million annually.  41 WMGT
