  • Local firefighters will reveal the 2026 Middle Georgia Firefighter Calendar Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Luther Williams Field on Willie Smokie Glover Drive - the calendar benefits Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital and features 36 firefighters chosen from more than 70 candidates.   • Locals in Macon County worry after a food processing plant closed—business has slowed down in the area. The shutdown may lead to fewer jobs and increased economic challenges for the community.  13WMAZ
  • Shuster's Candy & Creamery, a new family-owned ice cream and candy store on Poplar Street, opened after a soft launch on July 23 and serves 24 flavors along with nostalgic treats and handmade waffle cones; the shop is part of Macon Restaurant Week and features a special 478 Date Night Challenge for local patrons—continuing a long family tradition.  The Macon Melody

  • Downtown Macon is hosting its third annual Mural Festival with four artists chosen from nearly 100 applicants — they are painting murals on local walls to brighten neighborhoods and boost business, and the event runs until Sunday.  41 WMGT
  • A gala was held Friday at Macon City Auditorium to honor Otis Redding’s 84th birthday with proceeds helping the new Otis Redding Center for the Arts train young artists—today the festival continues with the Big ‘O’ Homecoming Show & Dance featuring Mannie Fresh.   • The Macon-Bibb County Affordable Housing Fund will invest $1.2 million to build 10 new homes and renovate one old house in Tindall Fields — the renovated property is expected to be move-in ready by the end of the year.   • Bryson Vincent scored five touchdowns and ran for 177 yards to help ACE win 44-19 over Wilkinson County on Friday night at Homecoming in Macon — the win moves the Gryphons to a 4-0 record and sets up a meeting with Northeast on Sept. 19.  The Macon Melody
  • Stratford beat Frederica 28—13 as running back Tyler Stephens made a key interception and scored a rushing touchdown, helping the Eagles improve to 4-0. Coach Paul Carroll said the team made strong adjustments in the second half to secure the win.  The Macon Melody
  • The Atlanta Falcons are preparing for Sunday night at 8:20 p.m. as they head to Minnesota to face the Vikings after a 23-20 loss to the Buccaneers. Safety Jessie Bates III, hometown linebacker Leonard Floyd, and newly signed kicker Parker Romo add fresh energy to help the team focus on securing turnovers—aiming to turn their season around.  41 WMGT
  • The Crawford County Eagles traveled to Adams-Maffett Field to face the Macon County Bulldogs in Week 5 of The End Zone. The Bulldogs led the series 20—3 and won the last eight matchups between the teams.  41 WMGT
