- ➤ Historic Macon Foundation will host its largest fall flea market this weekend at its warehouse on Oglethorpe St.—VIP ticket holders enter Friday at 5 p.m. and free entry is offered Saturday and Sunday to help raise funds for building preservation and educational programs. WGXA
- ➤ The Macon Witches Float will return to Amerson Park on Sunday, October 5th, and visitors are invited to dress in witch costumes and float on the Ocmulgee River by paddleboard, kayak or boat to raise money to fight period poverty. Check-in is from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Porter Pavilion—shuttles will take participants to the launch point and back after the float. Middle Georgia Times

- ➤ The 7th Annual Joey Stuckey Alive Day will be held on Saturday, October 4 at the Mill Hill Community Arts Center — doors open at 5:30 p.m. and live music is scheduled from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with free family activities and performances by Tom Rule, Joey Stuckey with Charles Arnold, and others to mark his triumph over brain cancer. - ➤ The 15th Annual Macon Beer Fest will take place in Downtown Macon on Saturday, October 11th from 2 to 7 p.m. — the event will offer 100 varieties of craft beer and wine, live music from The Downstairs, Erica Carr and Tier Blue, vendor booths, food, and free contests that support Pints for Prostates. - ➤ Bibb County School District hosted a Lunch Learn at Appling Middle School during Attendance Awareness Week to fight chronic absenteeism. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, a public meeting is held at the Rosa Jackson Recreation Center at 5:30 p.m. to discuss plans to designate Ocmulgee Mounds as a national park—local officials expect the effort, which follows a Senate bill proposal by Jon Ossoff, to boost tourism and jobs in Macon, especially in east Macon. - ➤ Macon-Bibb County hired the Jericho Design Group to design a jail expansion and the PBK Architects to plan a new arena that will provide more booking options in Macon. The jail upgrade is expected to cost between $28 million and $31 million and add up to 150 beds, and Mayor Lester Miller said he wants a humane, safe, and efficient facility — construction management and community input will follow.
