GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ County officials broke ground on a guitar shaped terminal at Middle Georgia Regional Airport on October 6 as the two-story building will cover 214,000 square feet for fueling, maintenance, a lounge and a restaurant. Construction will start in January and finish in early 2027—$20 million in county bonds will fund the project to boost jobs and local tax revenue. The Macon Melody
- ➤ Macon Water Authority approved the 2026 budget on Oct. 2, 2025 but the board did not agree on raising water rates to cover upcoming projects—some members favored a 5% rate increase while a state senator proposed a Municipal Option Sales Tax to bring in additional revenue. The decision affects how the authority will fund nearly $250 million in deferred maintenance and other improvements. The Macon Melody
