  • Macon-Bibb County firefighters held their annual MDA Golf Tournament at Bowden Golf Course on Friday, raising funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association to help local families affected by the disease—fees and sponsorships directly support research and advocacy.  41 WMGT
  • After nearly 50 years, Willie Andrews (known as Mr. Willie) is retiring from the Glass Service Center in Macon. A meet and greet on November 8 will let customers and colleagues honor his decades of service as he plans to enjoy cruises and travel.  13WMAZ
  • A Macon mother pleaded for her 14-year-old adopted daughter, who repeatedly ran away since September 18, to return safely home. Deputies located her twice before she left minutes later, and local authorities said she cannot be placed in youth development unless she commits a crime — her mother now is looking to arrange counseling and evaluations when she returns.  WGXA

  • Grammy Award–winning Bobby Brown will perform today at Fall Fest 2025 in Macon and said he will bring his team—complete with dancers and singers—to add fun surprises for fans. He noted that the city’s rich music history, which inspired legends like Otis Redding and Little Richard, makes his show extra special.  41 WMGT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Large Patch is a fungus that makes dead grass circles on lawns, with issues seen on centipedegrass and zoysiagrass this fall. Homeowners can slow its spread by trimming trees, mowing properly, avoiding overwatering, and using fungicides recommended by UGA Extension—October is the ideal time for treatment.  The Macon Melody

HEALTH NEWS

  • House of Hope Church in Macon is hosting a Breast Cancer Lunch-and-Learn event today at 10:00 a.m. at its campus at 1909 Woodland Drive, with on-site mammogram screenings provided by Atrium Health Navicent—breast cancer survivors will share prevention tips during the event.  WGXA
  • Local mental health therapist Emily Newberry was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago and fought brutal chemotherapy, high medical bills, and severe side effects to become cancer free. She credited her strong support system—parents, sons, friends, and church—for helping her get through the treatment and rebuild her strength.  The Macon Melody

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Oct. 16, the Raiders beat the Chargers 61-6 at Thompson Stadium in Macon to recover from a close loss; the win ties them for first in GHSA Region 2-A. They will play Dodge County next week — the Chargers remain winless this season.  The Macon Melody
  • Football Friday Night 2025 has reached double digits as high school teams play Week 10—Dublin is set to host Bleckley County while Houston County faces Coffee and Southwest takes on ACE. Northeast beat Central 61 to 6 and 13WMAZ will update scores as the games continue.  13WMAZ
