  • A Macon restaurant owner said he wants to help his community one plate at a time—he is giving back by donating meals from his restaurant.  13WMAZ
  • Macon restaurant owner James Duncomb will serve free meals to up to 100 federal workers on November 6 at Tropical Flava—he is also collecting donations for families in Jamaica recovering from Hurricane Melissa as his business faces slower sales amid rising prices.  13WMAZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Disney On Ice presents Road Trip Adventures starts today at the Macon Coliseum and runs through tomorrow. The show brings classic and modern Disney stories to life on ice—featuring scenes from Frozen, Toy Story 4, The Lion King and Aladdin.  41 WMGT
  • Macon Fashion Week (MFW) will kick off on November 2 with free events, workshops, and runway shows featuring local, student, and Muscogee designers. The week-long celebration is produced in partnership with Macon Magazine and Wesleyan College (designed to honor the city’s unique style and history).  WGXA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Alex II Elementary School unveiled its new outdoor classroom on Oct. 30—funded by a PTA walkathon that raised $4,600. Mercer University volunteers helped transform the space, and teachers plan to use it for outdoor lessons in spring—aiming to boost student focus.  The Macon Melody

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Macon Water Authority said recent reports of an earthy taste in tap water are temporary—caused by increased fire hydrant use and lake turnover—and that daily tests confirm the water remains safe to drink. Officials noted the flavor should fade as seasonal conditions stabilize.  41 WMGT
  • Piedmont opened a new primary care clinic at 100 N. Macon St. in Macon—its third this year—to offer same-day, online and video visits with three doctors accepting new patients.  41 WMGT

  • Flight attendant Billy Hennessey—a new resident who moved from Orlando in April—is launching a column called Billy’s Let's Eat Review to cover local eateries. He began his series at Mercer Village Pizza—where owner Joe crafts fresh pizza dough and serves popular wings—showing local flavors that appeal to many diners.  The Macon Melody

SPORTS NEWS

  • Mercer men’s and women’s basketball teams will begin their seasons next week with tough games; the men will face No. 18 Tennessee on the road at 7 p.m. Monday and the women will play UNC Asheville on the road at 6:30 p.m. Monday before hosting Clemson on Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. The teams add many new players & fresh talent & energy as they try to turn last season’s close games into wins.  The Macon Melody
  • Northeast defeated East Laurens 29-8 at Thomson Stadium and secured the region title with a strong second-half effort. Head coach Jeremy Wiggins said his team — despite an early struggle — battled hard for their first region trophy since 2009.  The Macon Melody
  • On Friday night, the Windsor Knights won 35—8 over Augusta Prep in a state tournament game in Macon—Santiago Medina gained more than 100 yards and scored a touchdown. The win lifted their record to 4—7 and moved them to the second round where they will face Brentwood on Nov. 7.  The Macon Melody
  • Middle Georgia high schools played Week 12 football games and posted scores for teams like Taylor County, Macon County, and East Laurens—Thursday matchups showed Westside, Augusta at 3 and West Laurens at 27.  41 WMGT
