  • Byron resident Lillian Williams celebrated her 100th birthday on Tuesday with family & friends. She said her faith and love helped her live a long, fulfilling life.  41 WMGT
  • Macon Burger Week returns as 25 local restaurants serve unique $12 beef burgers through November 15. Diners can collect stamps in a digital passport for a chance to win a T-shirt, grilling tools, or a charcoal grill — an event presented by the Georgia Beef Board and Visit Macon.  41 WMGT
  • A former SNAP recipient is preparing to open a community-led food pantry in Gray to help local families access fresh food. The pantry will be managed by volunteers and is expected to serve residents in need.  13WMAZ
  • Local veterans shared tales of duty and sacrifice at a Veterans Day ceremony in Central Georgia (honoring their service and remembering fallen comrades) as community members gathered to pay tribute.  13WMAZ
  • An 11-year-old Macon girl used her allowance to help 'Stuff the Truck'—a local initiative aimed at supporting those in need.  13WMAZ
  • The Downtown Macon Rotary Club plans to feed 250 families this Thanksgiving amid the government shutdown and asks residents to donate food or money; the event will be held on Nov. 22 at Atrium Health Amphitheater with meal box drop-offs available at the Library Annex Branch at the Macon Mall on Nov. 20—21.  WGXA

CULTURE NEWS

  • A new historical marker was unveiled today at Cotton Avenue Plaza on Mulberry Street in downtown Macon to honor local journalist Peyton Anderson, owner of the Macon Telegraph and a noted philanthropist. Local leaders, family and officials from the Georgia Historical Society spoke about his lasting impact—his foundation, created with funds he left when he died in 1988, supports the community.  WGXA
  • The Wiggles announced their Tree of Wisdom Spectacular Tour for 2026—featuring a show in Macon at the City Auditorium on August 15 to support their new family album. The tour will also visit several cities in the U.S. and Canada and will offer a mix of classic and new songs for fans of all ages.  Middle Georgia Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fort Valley State University announced it will open a new high-tech facility to help Georgia farmers. The center (on campus) will give farmers new tools to improve their crops.  13WMAZ
  • Wilcox County Schools will hold virtual classes on Friday, November 14 due to staff absences, while Treutlen County Schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. so students and staff can travel safely for GHSA playoff games—both adjustments aim to manage travel logistics and ensure supervision.  41 WMGT
