  • Macon-Bibb's traffic safety manager discussed pedestrian safety measures after the area's 12th fatality in 2025, urging drivers to follow guidelines (additional measures for busy intersections may be introduced soon).  13WMAZ

  • Thursday night, the Bibb County School Board approved Jamoski Ward as the new head football coach at Central High School in Macon. Ward, a former Chargers assistant, replaces Jarrett Laws + aims to boost the team’s performance.  41 WMGT
  • Twiggs County Schools Superintendent Dr. Mack Bullard retires after a 33-year education career and almost five years serving the district. The district named Tyrone L. Bacon as interim superintendent to lead the schools during the search for a permanent replacement.  WGXA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Doctors in Macon say respiratory viruses are rising during the holiday season as crowded gatherings can spread symptoms like sneezing and sore throats. They advise residents to get vaccinated and practice good handwashing (Atrium Health Navicent Primary Care West Macon confirms the increase).  41 WMGT

SPORTS NEWS

  • Howard High School junior TaShawn Poole will compete in the Navy All-American All-Star Game on Jan. 10 in Orlando (on his birthday), marking a milestone that shows local talent stepping onto a national stage.  41 WMGT
  • Mercer women’s basketball boosted its season record (6-5) with a 66-43 win last Sunday and now plays Detroit Mercy at 3:30 p.m. today in New Orleans during the Tulane Holiday Tournament.
