The Middle Georgia Regional Library will close its Riverside branch on July 27th after serving the community since 1999, and a new branch will open at 5494 Forsyth Road (opening date not yet set) with transit officials still reviewing bus stop plans (details pending).

A semi truck overturned this afternoon on Sardis Church Road in South Bibb — losing its freight and blocking the westbound lanes from Houston Road east — while deputies work to clear the roadway; the driver sustained only minor injuries.

Authorities arrested 21 people after a multi-agency investigation executed nine search warrants on July 17 in Houston County and the Atlanta metro area—recovering over $5 million in illegal narcotics including marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, ecstasy and THC edibles—with all suspects held at the Houston County Detention Center on racketeering charges.
